Goddess Glow: My Tanning Routine

laurendaymakeup

Get the Goddess Glow

NAKED TAN REVIEW by Lauren Day

To achieve a goddess glow I use Naked Tan products. They are cruelty-free and best of all the products are made in Australia. I love the delicious vanilla and coconut scent. Because I have a very high risk of skin cancer I prefer to use a safe, natural sunless tan rather than getting a tan from the sun. I try to limit my sun exposure between 10 am and 3pm every day.

My Step by Step Tanning Routine

1. Apply Naked Tan Goddess Crème de la Crème to my hands, elbows, knees and ankles.

2. I shake the bottle well and then apply 3 pumps of Goddess Bronzing Mousse into the palm of my hand. I then apply the mouse to my body, and keep re-pumping mousse into my hand when I need more.

3. I rinse my hands well and then apply Goddess Self Tan to my face, neck and the backs of my hands.

4. I wash my hands thoroughly to remove excess tan. Then I turn on my Stefan hairdryer and switched on the cool shot.  I use it to dry my skin for approximately 2 minutes, to avoid that after tan "sticky feeling".

5. After application I relax for 2 hours while my #NakedTan to develops into a gorgeous bronze colour. Then I rinse off the tan in the shower and pat dry my skin with a soft bath towel. (If desired leave on overnight for a deeper colour).

As Naked Tan is a true 2 hour tan they recommend leaving the Goddess Bronzing Mousse on for just 2 hours (do not exceed 4 hours).

Benefits of Naked Tan:
  • True 2 Hour Tan (tan develops in just 2 hours!)
  • Cruelty-Free formula
  • Australian made and owned
  • Sunless tanning (no nasty sunburn!)
  • Vanilla & Coconut Scent
  • Recyclable product packaging

Important!
When in the sun, be sure to still apply Sunscreen... because Naked Tan does not contain sunscreen!

My Beauty Routine

My Beauty Routine by LaurenDayMakeup

Last month I shared my Skincare Routine with my readers. This month it's personal beauty care, with my favourite eco-friendly beauty products. When it comes to choosing the right beauty products I always look for cruelty-free affordable options that give me great results. These are my favourite beauty care essentials and I wanted to share them with you.

Soap.
When it comes to washing in the shower I choose to use soap instead of a body wash. I think it's more eco-friendly and gives me that extra clean feeling. My favourite soap is Coconut Soap from Eco Store. This cruelty-free and eco-friendly bar of soap is not only great for the environment with it's recyclable packaging it leaves my skin feeling fresh and clean without that dry feeling like regular soap. The coconut scent is subtle but smells divine. It's made in New Zealand by a wonderful family run business. Although it's a little more expensive than your regular bar of soap, I love this brand and feel the extra money is worth it.

Deodorant.
For my deodorant choice I always like to use a roll on deodorant. I used to use Mum deodorant but it's not cruelty-free. I have tried many cruelty-free, natural deodorants - some worked some didn't but when I found this Crystal Roll-On Deodorant from Body Crystal I was so happy with the results. It's more expensive that a regular deodorant but it's  worth the extra pennies because it lasts a long time and you get 80mls which is more than the average roll-on deodorant. It has a pleasant scent, I have tried both the Botanica and Wildflowers scents. It's alcohol free, not tested on animals and made from natural mineral salts. It's great value too with one deodorant lasting over 6 months. I am really happy with the results I get from this deodorant and highly recommend it.

Toothpaste.
Finding a cruelty-free toothpaste is not as easy as it sounds. The supermarket shelf is mostly stocked with Colgate and other big name brands. This toothpaste is natural and is available in the supermarket if you look at the bottom shelf you will see it. It's also available at selected health food stores. My favourite cruelty-free toothpaste is Natural  Toothpaste with Aloe Vera by Grants of Australia. The fresh mint flavour is very pleasant and subtle. This toothpaste is vegan and natural with no Fluoride, Parabens or SLS. Best of all it's Australian made and I know when I purchase this toothpaste my money is going to a great company and not to Colgate! I love this toothpaste and hope that you will give it a go next time your toothpaste runs out.

Personal Care.
When it comes to that time of the month, I want a product that is not only going to be great for my body but also the environment too. Did you know that most personal care products contain chemicals and nasties that are not only bad for the environment, the chemicals used can lead to TSS. I was introduced to TOM Organic last year when I met Aimee the woman behind the brand and I knew I had to give it a try. She gave me a pack of their tampons to try. I have also tried the TOM Organic panty liners and ultra thin pads. All these products are wonderful and best of all I know they are cruelty-free and eco-friendly. Perfect if you have sensitive skin because they are free from chemicals and synthetic dyes. I have really enjoyed using the TOM Organic range and high recommend it. If you're in Australia you can purchase these products at your local Woolworths supermarket. They are a little more expensive than regular pads and tampon brands but for added value knowing they are made with chemical free 100% organic cotton it's well worth the extra investment. I love this brand so much I even wrote an interesting article about them for my Eco Glamazine last year - you can read it here

TOM Organic

Whether is makeup, skincare or body care I always look for cruelty-free and eco-friendly options. I love the satisfaction knowing my beauty routine is not contributing to animal testing and is having a positive impact on the environment. I hope you will too. ECO TAN: Invisible Tan

ECO TAN Invisible Tan

Introducing ECO TAN... the world's first 100% Natural Certified Organic Tan!

This is by far the best fake tan I've ever used. It's going to be my beauty secret weapon this summer, thats for sure!

Created by Sonya Driver, a single mother, after her sister was diagnosed with melanoma, she knew there needed to be a safe alternative to spray tanning and fake tanning that was natural. After testing many products and discovering that many of these "fake tans" contained lots of toxic chemicals Sonya set about creating a safe, natural, organic tan. The result after many years of formulating she invented Eco Tan. 100% Natural Organic Tan.

Eco Tan ingredients:

  • Avocado Oil
  • Honeysuckle Flower Extract
  • Rosewood Oil
  • Rose Geranium Oil
  • Grapeskin Extract
  • Cacao Fruit (chocolate)
  • Aloe Vera
  • Glycerin
  • Bergamot
  • Chamomile
  • Flower Extract

100% Natural. Certified Organic. Cruelty-Free. Vegan

I purchased the Eco Tan Invisible Tan ($34.95) and is available at ecotan.com.au, at selected health food stores and chemists. Invisible Tan is a deluxe moisturiser that transforms your skin into a gorgeous golden tan.

I have very fair skin that burns very easy, and with the high risk of skin cancer here in Australia sun-baking is just not an option. I have tried so many fake tanners which always promise to take my skin from pale to perfectly tan but never seemed to deliver the golden tan that I desired. That is until I tried Eco Tan's Invisible Tan! All I can say is Wow! This fake tan is not only organic but it really works and gives me a beautiful long-lasting golden tan. The smell is really nice and after about 1 week my tan starts to fade naturally without looking patchy and yuck. I am so impressed with how easy this product is to use. The first day I wore my Invisible Tan,  I decided to wear a white t-shirt just so see how invisible it really was, boy was I surprised! There was no tan residue or stains on my shirt, I couldn't believe it. I would highly recommend Invisible Tan to anyone who wants to get a gorgeous golden tan without the damaging effects of sun tanning!

REVIEW: Mountain Girl Soap

Mountain Girl Soap

I recently stumbled across this really nice website, Mountain Girl Soap. I was browsing the web for Vegan and Cruelty Free makeup companies and this website caught my attention. I loved the name Mountain Girl Soap and wanted to know more. I absolutely adore Handmade Soap and when I discovered the Coconut Lemongrass I knew I had to buy a bar. I also found they had Vegan Lip Balm and I'm totally obsessed with Vanilla so I also added this to my online shopping cart. Checkout was simple and easy because they accept Pay Pal. The customer service was also great after purchasing my products, I received a lovely personal email from the company's owner Naomi. I received my soap and lip balm in the mail a few days later.

The Coconut Lemongrass Soap smells delicious and fresh and contains Coconut, Lime, Pineapple and Lemongrass. It's certified vegan and available in 4.5 oz bars for $US 5.00 each. The all-natural Vanilla Lip Balm is also Vegan and contains avocado butter, olive oil, candelilla wax, vitamin E and real vanilla infused coconut oil.
