My Beauty Routine

My Beauty Routine by LaurenDayMakeup

Last month I shared my Skincare Routine with my readers. This month it's personal beauty care, with my favourite eco-friendly beauty products. When it comes to choosing the right beauty products I always look for cruelty-free affordable options that give me great results. These are my favourite beauty care essentials and I wanted to share them with you.

Soap.
When it comes to washing in the shower I choose to use soap instead of a body wash. I think it's more eco-friendly and gives me that extra clean feeling. My favourite soap is Coconut Soap from Eco Store. This cruelty-free and eco-friendly bar of soap is not only great for the environment with it's recyclable packaging it leaves my skin feeling fresh and clean without that dry feeling like regular soap. The coconut scent is subtle but smells divine. It's made in New Zealand by a wonderful family run business. Although it's a little more expensive than your regular bar of soap, I love this brand and feel the extra money is worth it.

Deodorant.
For my deodorant choice I always like to use a roll on deodorant. I used to use Mum deodorant but it's not cruelty-free. I have tried many cruelty-free, natural deodorants - some worked some didn't but when I found this Crystal Roll-On Deodorant from Body Crystal I was so happy with the results. It's more expensive that a regular deodorant but it's  worth the extra pennies because it lasts a long time and you get 80mls which is more than the average roll-on deodorant. It has a pleasant scent, I have tried both the Botanica and Wildflowers scents. It's alcohol free, not tested on animals and made from natural mineral salts. It's great value too with one deodorant lasting over 6 months. I am really happy with the results I get from this deodorant and highly recommend it.

Toothpaste.
Finding a cruelty-free toothpaste is not as easy as it sounds. The supermarket shelf is mostly stocked with Colgate and other big name brands. This toothpaste is natural and is available in the supermarket if you look at the bottom shelf you will see it. It's also available at selected health food stores. My favourite cruelty-free toothpaste is Natural  Toothpaste with Aloe Vera by Grants of Australia. The fresh mint flavour is very pleasant and subtle. This toothpaste is vegan and natural with no Fluoride, Parabens or SLS. Best of all it's Australian made and I know when I purchase this toothpaste my money is going to a great company and not to Colgate! I love this toothpaste and hope that you will give it a go next time your toothpaste runs out.

Grants of Australia Natural Toothpaste

Personal Care.
When it comes to that time of the month, I want a product that is not only going to be great for my body but also the environment too. Did you know that most personal care products contain chemicals and nasties that are not only bad for the environment, the chemicals used can lead to TSS. I was introduced to TOM Organic last year when I met Aimee the woman behind the brand and I knew I had to give it a try. She gave me a pack of their tampons to try. I have also tried the TOM Organic panty liners and ultra thin pads. All these products are wonderful and best of all I know they are cruelty-free and eco-friendly. Perfect if you have sensitive skin because they are free from chemicals and synthetic dyes. I have really enjoyed using the TOM Organic range and high recommend it. If you're in Australia you can purchase these products at your local Woolworths supermarket. They are a little more expensive than regular pads and tampon brands but for added value knowing they are made with chemical free 100% organic cotton it's well worth the extra investment. I love this brand so much I even wrote an interesting article about them for my Eco Glamazine last year - you can read it here

TOM Organic

Whether is makeup, skincare or body care I always look for cruelty-free and eco-friendly options. I love the satisfaction knowing my beauty routine is not contributing to animal testing and is having a positive impact on the environment. I hope you will too. REVIEW: Cosima Skincare

Cosima Skincare Review

After embarking on my Kind Beauty Mission, I have been searching for an all natural organic skincare range that is 100% cruelty-free and that's not "made in china".  It wasn't long before I discovered an Australian made and owned skincare range that lived up to all my expectations and more.

Cosima Skincare is a unique range of purely natural skin care products formulated to give your skin and body real results naturally. Inspired by the best from nature! Cosima skincare fights the visible signs of ageing using the highest quality 100% natural and organic ingredients.

I had the unique opportunity to meet Angela the woman behind Cosima Skincare a few months ago and she kindly gave me some of the products to try. I was more than happy to test out the range and give her my thoughts. I was so thrilled with the way my skin looked after using these products, I knew that I just had to share my thoughts about Cosima Skincare  with my beauty blog readers as well.

Cosima Refresh Foaming Cleanser  $29.95 (125 ml)

Description: Wake up your skin with this refreshing face wash suitable for all skin types. Watch it remove make up, dirt and unclog pores while Papaya gently exfoliates dead skin cells and cucumber cools for beautifully soft skin. Suitable for Normal, Oily, Combination and Congested Skin Types.
Key ingredients: Papaya extract, Lemon Myrtle essential oil, Cucumber extract, Rosewood oil, Rosemary antioxidant, Apricot Kernel Oil.

The Foaming Cleanser is my favourite product from the range! I just adore how is lathers on my skin for that refreshing clean feeling. It removes all my makeup while invigorating my skin with a slight tingly feeling. The sweet peppermint marshmallow like fragrance leaves my skin feeling soft and very refreshed.

Cosima True Renew Facial Exfoliant $45.00 (125 ml)

Description: Mother of Pearl, Jojoba Beads, and Willow Bark extract work to deeply cleanse and exfoliate the skin helping to accelerate cell renewal. Mother of Pearl enhances efficient absorption of skin care products into the skin's deeper layers. This exfoliator offers superior refining and clarifying abilities - pure luxury for your skin.
Key ingredients: Mother of Pearl, Macadamia oil, Willow Bark extract, Vitamin E, Jojoba beads, Papaya extract, Kakadu Plum extract, Marshmallow extract, Bergamot essential oil, Tangerine essential oil and Rosemary antioxidant.

The Facial Exfoliant is a beautiful treatment that I like to give my skin once a week. Instead of my usual mask I have been using this instead to refresh and revive my skin. It helps to exfoliate my skin without being too harsh and abrasive. Plus the subtle marshmallow scent leaves my skin feeling refreshed and soft.

Cosima Regenerating Night Cream $48.99  (50 ml)

Description: A potent blend of 24 ingredients to rejuvenate and regenerate your skin while you rest. This cream will restore balance and hydrate your skin to visibly reduce the signs of premature ageing. Wake up with radiant, glowing skin.
Key ingredients: Aloe Vera juice, Macadamia oil, Certified Organic Rosehip oil, Certified Organic Coconut oil, Jojoba oil, Vitamin E, Vitamin B5, Kakadu plum extract, Ginseng extract, Papaya extract, Carrot Seed oil, Rose essential oil and Rose antioxidant.

It's always been really important to me to hydrate my skin at night. After all during the night is when your skin cells are hard at work repairing the damage and renewing your skin for the next day. This night cream is just divine. It leaves my skin feeling hydrated and moisturised without that heavy creamy feeling. The subtle coconut scent feels beautiful on my skin.

Cosima Replenishing Day Cream $45.00  (50 ml)

Description: This rich non greasy face cream is full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to nourish and protect your skin. Perfect for use under make up. This cream will fight the signs of premature ageing giving your skin a healthy glow.
Key ingredients:  Aloe Vera juice, Sweet Almond oil, Certified Organic Rosehip oil, Certified Organic Coconut oil, Jojoba oil, Vitamin E, Vitamin B5, Kakadu plum extract, Hemp Seed oil, Evening Primrose oil, Jasmine essential oil, Rose essential oil and Rose antioxidant.

When it comes to finding the perfect daily moisturiser, I normally stay away from heavy creams because I have oily skin. However this Day Cream gives my skin the hydration it needs and doesn't clog my pores which can cause my skin to break out. I was really surprised by how much I liked this Day Cream and I'm really happy with the way it moisturises my skin especially coming into the colder months of the year.

Cosima Flawless Eye Cream - Natural Botox Alternative $79  (30 ml)

Description: Cosima Flawless Eye Cream is a multi-dimensional eye cream with clinically proven actives targeting the signs of ageing such as fine line and wrinkles, loss of elasticity, firmness, tone, dark circles and vascular (vein) imperfections. The eye area appears more even and radiant. Although you will see results instantly, results continue to improve the longer you use it.
Key ingredients: Aloe Vera juice, Macadamia oil, Certified Organic Rosehip oil, Hibiscus extract, Jojoba oil, Certified Organic Coconut oil, Vitamin E, Vitamin B5, Cucumber extract, Kakadu Plum extract, Honeysuckle essential oil, Jasmine essential oil, Rosemary antioxidant.
This eye cream is  very soft and has a pleasant fragrance. I really like the pump bottle because it dispenses just the right amount of product for one application. I think the key to looking young is always using a good quality eye cream. You may not see the benefits now but you will in the future and you will thank yourself later.

Kind Beauty Favourites

On my Kind Beauty Mission to make-over my total beauty routine with all cruelty-free and vegan products, I have recently discovered some amazing kind beauty finds. Read more about my Kind Beauty Mission here to find out why I'm so passionate about only using beauty products that are not tested on animals. These are some of my favourite Kind Beauty Products

ECO TAN Invisible Tan  ($34.95)
organic  100% natural  cruelty-free  vegan  australian made

This is my all time favourite fake tanner! I have very fair skin that burns very easy, and with the high risk of skin cancer here in Australia sun-baking is just not an option. I have tried so many fake tanners which always promise to take my skin from pale to perfectly tan but never seemed to deliver the golden tan that I desired. That is until I tried Eco Tan's Invisible Tan! All I can say is Wow! This fake tan is not only organic but it really works and gives me a beautiful long-lasting golden tan. The smell is really nice and after about 1 week my tan starts to fade naturally without looking patchy and yuck. I am so impressed with how easy this product is to use. The first day I wore my Invisible Tan,  I decided to wear a white t-shirt just so see how invisible it really was, boy was I surprised! There was no tan residue or stains on my shirt, I couldn't believe it! I would highly recommend Invisible Tan to anyone who wants to get a gorgeous golden tan without the damaging effects of sun tanning.
Key ingredients:
  • organic avocado oil
  • honeysuckle flower extract
  • rosemary leaf extract
  • organic aloe leaf juice
  • organic chamomile flower extract
  • organic macadamia seed oil
  • rose geranium oil
  • rose flower oil

YES TO CUCUMBER Facial Towelettes  (10 pack $3.99)
cruelty-free  98.7% natural  hypoallergenic biodegradable cloth organic

Before I begin my nightly skincare routine I always remove my makeup with a cleansing wipe and these new Yes to Cucumbers facial towelettes are really lovely! They are very easy to use and feel so fresh on my skin at the end of the day. They are available in a 30 pack and a travel size pack of 10 travel towelettes (which are my favourites - because they don't try out).

YES TO CUCUMBER Daily Gentle Cleanser
cruelty-free  96% natural  hypoallergenic certified organic

I really have enjoyed using this Yes To Cucumbers Daily Facial cleanser everyday to wash my face after using the facial towelettes to take off my foundation/makeup. The smell is very pleasant, the scent is similar to a fresh salad. It leaves my skin feeling refreshed and clean. I have always used foaming cleansers morning and night for the last 10 years and I have tried many different brands.. This cleanser is one of my favourites and I will be re-purchasing this cleanser and look forward to trying more products from the Yes to Cucumbers/Carrots/Blueberries range!

Key ingredients:

NATURE'S ORGANICS Light Moisturiser
cruelty-free  vegan   Australian made  97% natural  fragrance free

Don't be fooled by the name "Light Moisturiser" this is more of a rich deluxe moisturiser. However it is made up of mostly natural ingredients including cucumber and shea butter and the formula has a very pleasant vanilla scent. The texture is very thick and just one pump is more than enough to completely moisturise my whole face. The pump bottle makes application even easier and very convenient for your bathroom vanity but not so much for travelling.

Key ingredients:
  • shea butter
  • cucumber
  • rose geranium extract
  • wheat germ oil
  • natural vanilla

Key ingredients:
  • organic aloe leaf juice
  • organic chamomile leaf extract
  • ginseng root extract
I love spraying this cute pink kind product on my hair just after I step out of the shower when my hair is wet. It really helps me detangle my wild frizzy curls. The smell is light, sweet and fruity. I love this detangling spray, it's one of my best haircare secret weapons to combat those rainy bad-hair-days!

HARMONI'S KISS Organic Girl Roll-On Deodorant ($7.99)
cruelty-free  organic  Australian Made  aluminium free

I have been looking for a really nice pleasant scented deodorant for a few months, other natural deodorants I have tried have left me a little on the smelly side. But after trying the Organic Girl deodorant in roll-on variety by Harmoni's Kiss I can honestly say that I'm really happy to have found this gorgeous product. Packaging is adorable - pink, red, green and white plus the natural blend of plant extracts and oils leave my skin feeling clean and sweet smelling. Kind Beauty Mission

I am an Earth Angel...

After almost 1 year as a vegetarian I am now embarking on a Kind Beauty Mission...

My mission is to transform my total beauty routine into 100% cruelty-free makeup, beauty, hair and personal care products! Choosing only products not tested on animals, cruelty free and vegan.

It's BEAUTIFUL to be Kind...

Since beginning my Eco Glamazine (an eco-friendly digital beauty magazine) 5 months ago I have discovered the truth behind the billion dollar beauty industry and the harsh reality is that some of the leading beauty companies still test their products and ingredients on animals. You may be shocked to learn that Loreal, Maybelline and Covergirl all test on animals! Yes it's true! These precious animals endure brutal cruelty and a life of torture so that these companies can make billions of dollars every year selling you makeup, skincare and beauty products! Well I say that this is unacceptable! We are now in the 21 century and there no excuse and no need to test any products on animals. These animals feel pain and emotion just like we do. If we buy these beauty products from companies knowing that they test on animals aren't we saying that this is ok? Well it's not ok. It's not okay to kill animals just so that I can shampoo my hair! I say NO to Animal Testing! I care about all animals great and small and I refuse to go another day using any products that have been tested on animals!

This is my Earth Angel pledge:
to be kind and live my life everyday with compassion for all animals and our planet! To embrace the natural gifts mother nature has given me and to inspire others to follow their heart and go green.

It's GOOD to be Green...

From this day forward... I am passionate about living an eco-friendly cruelty-free kind life. I am going back to basics.... learning to appreciate the simple things in life... spending time with my puppy, enjoying a hot cup of green tea, relaxing walks along the beach at sunset, eating lots of fresh fruit, watching inspiration videos, recycling more, surrounding myself with positive like-minded people, drinking more water and spending time reading books.

Living the KIND life...

My motto for 2011 was Create Your Dream. I will write a full review of this year later this month (so stay tuned). With the year Twenty Twelve only 2 weeks away, I am looking ahead to the future with a new motto which is The Kind Life. Follow this blog for upcoming kind cruelty-free and vegan beauty reviews! 2012 will be full of changes, new plans, more focus, chasing my dreams, inspiring others, being less materialistic, being true to myself and standing strong.  I invite you to come along for the ride... my kind life
