FOUNDATION REVIEW: glō minerals

Luxe Liquid Foundation

glō minerals REVIEW by Lauren Day

Finding the perfect foundation for your complexion can be a challenge! Am I right ladies? Especially if you're a Makeup Artist like myself. You've probably tried a lot of different brands. It's all about the consistency, coverage and colour.

In 2015 my absolute favourite luxury foundation is the new Luxe Liquid Foundation by glō minerals. I highly recommend this beautiful velvety soft foundation as it contains broad spectrum SPF 15 and anti-ageing properties. It's excellent for mature women in their 30's, 40's and 50's.

Application directions:
  1. Shake well before each use.
  2. Using a foundation brush or your fingers, apply Luxe Foundation to the face, blending lightly down the neck.

www.glo-minerals.com

I have naturally fair skin. My shade is Naturelle. The glass bottle is 30ml. (1 fl. oz.) This foundation's pump is convenient and easy to apply. I prefer applying foundation with a makeup sponge for full coverage. If you prefer using a brush to apply foundation, try glō minerals Ultra Brush

When I go makeup shopping, either online or at my local chemist or department store, I always look for good quality foundation. I believe it's definitely one of the key steps to achieving a flawless finish. Luxe Liquid Foundation is very luxurious and long lasting. The

glō minerals recommends!
  • Apply foundation liberally 15  minutes before sun exposure
  • Use a water resistant sunscreen if swimming or sweating
  • Reapply at least every 2 hours

"glō minerals provides coverage that lasts while being kind to the skin."

I simply adore glō minerals Camouflage Under - Eye Concealer. My shade is beige. For best results, apply with a synthetic or cruelty-free brush. It's excellent for concealing dark circles under the eyes prior to applying glō minerals Luxe Liquid Foundation.

REVIEW: InStyler Rotating Iron

InStyler Review by Lauren Day

I reviewed the first InStyler {Classic Silver} that I bought on August 10th 2012. Unfortunately my silver in styler is dead.. This hairstyling device doesn't last long. (rest in peace!)

In 2014 I purchased a brand new InStyler, the new purple colour… And I love it. It's much better than the original InStyler I bought back in 2012. So I decided to put together a new review of the InStyler Rotating Iron.

I use my InStyler everyday (when I wear my hair straight - it's naturally curly) to create smooth, straight luscious hair. The purple InStyler is so quick and easy to use and it creates so much body and bounce to my hair! I absolutely love the InStyler!

Included with your InStyler:
  • 3-in-1 Styling Comb
  • Heat Resistant Carry Bag
  • Thermal Shield Training Guard
  • Quick Start GuideHeat Settings:

InStyler has 3 Heat Settings:

  1. High
  2. Medium
  3. Low
  4. OFF
Benefits of using the InStyler:
  • Adds volume and shine
  • Straightens and curls
  • Styles in half the time (compared to a regular hair straightener)
  • Quick and easy to use

NEW HAIR COLOUR: Raspberry Pink

NEW HAIR COLOUR!
Raspberry Pink

It's no secret that I love pink! ...And with the pastel coloured hair trend in full swing with celebrities like Jennifer Hawkins, Nicole Richie, and even Katy Perry adopting pink, blue, purple and even green hair, I decided to add some colour to my hair. You only live once, so why not!

This isn't the first time I've had pink hair. You may remember back in 2011 I had hot pink streaks in my hair for a few months. This time I decided that I wanted a magenta purple and my hairdresser suggested we add some pink as well to create a subtle multicoloured look.

My amazing hairdresser Alex from Capri Hair added a few pink and magenta highlights to my hair. She used Fudge Paintbox colours in Pink Moon (light neon pink) and Raspberry Beret (magenta purple). The result is a vibrant Raspberry Pink look, that I absolutely love!

Please Note: On the Fudge website Raspberry Beret appears as a true purple, but trust me it's more like a magenta colour!

For this look I am wearing my new favourite lipstick combo Calypso Cool featuring Napoleon Perdis lipstick and NYX lip gloss.

I always line my lips with a lip liner before I apply lipstick. It's really important especially if you're wearing a dark or vibrant colour. It keeps your lipstick in place - trust me, don't skip this step girls!

Essence have great lipliner because they are really creamy and they're so cheap! Cute Pink is one of my favourites and it's perfect for this look.

I purchase my Essence products from Target Australia. Essence is cruelty free.

I think I have a lipstick obsession. Ok rephrase that; I know I have a lipstick obsession. When it comes to lipstick my advice is to always invest in a good quality lipstick. With lipliners and lip glosses I choose cheaper (cruelty-free of course) brands but when it comes to Lipstick it's all about luxury. The reason is, that lipstick will last a lot longer than a lip gloss, so it's wise to buy the right one! My favourite luxury lipstick is Devine Goddess Lipstick by Napoleon Perdis. I bought this shade Calypso lipstick back in April and featured it in last makeup haul, and it's one of my new faves!

So why do I love this lipstick… Well it's simple. It's just divine! Just as the name suggests, Napoleon's DeVine Goddess Lipstick actually lives up to it's name. I have a few shades now, but Calypso it's one of the best for it's amazing colour pigment and gorgeous fuchsia pink.

I purchase my Napoleon Perdis products from a NP Concert Store with my NP rewards card or from Myer with my Myer One card.  Napoleon Perdis is cruelty-free.

lip gloss NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss Dolly Pink LG136

When it comes to finding the perfect lip gloss, NYX Mega Shine is an absolute WINNER!
Dolly Pink it's a vibrant, glossy 'Barbie' pink and it's super glossy and glistens in the sunshine. If you're a true girly girl you will adore this shade. I also wear this colour just with the cute pink lipliner as a pretty day look.

NYX is now available at selected Target stores in Australia. However I purchase my NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss from MakeupGeek.com (US$5.79) and BeautyJoint.com (US$5).

MUSIC: Colbie Caillat TRY

SONG: "Try" by Colbie Caillat

After taking a break for a few years to write and record her new album Colbie Caillat is back with a brand new single! An inspiring new positive feel-good song about being yourself. She hopes it will inspire women to focus on their inner beauty.

"I still love getting all dolled up. And then most of my days I love walking around with no makeup, my hair dried straight from the shower, in workout clothes or pyjamas." - Colbie Caillat

In the powerful new music video Colbie is featured along with other women revealing their beautified, photoshoped faces and then as the video progresses their bare no-makeup faces.

"We shot the video in reverse, we started bare, and by the end we finished with the full hair and makeup, and then reversed the film for the finished product. All of the women were amazing. When I shot the first scene with no hair and makeup on in front of an HD camera in my face, flashed with bright lights, everyone was watching. I thought, “Oh my god, I bet they’re all looking at my blemishes, thinking that I should cover them up, or that I should put some volume in my hair." But it also felt really cool to be on camera with zero on, like literally nothing on."

"Try" is featured on Colbie's brand new EP Gypsy Heart, available now on iTunes

"I don’t have Photoshop on my album cover. At the video shoots, I’m doing less hair and makeup."

COLBIE CAILLAT  |  TRY

Take your makeup off,
Let your hair down,
Take a breath,
Look into the mirror at yourself,
Don't you like you?
Coz I like you.

MAKEUP HAUL: Napoleon Perdis

Napoleon Perdis Makeup Haul
{Autumn 2014}

I am loving all the amazing Radiant Orchid hues this year. I have a few purple lipsticks including Lime Crime's Airborne Unicorn and Napoleon Perdis DeVine Goddess Lipstick in Selene (don't get too excited - this shade is discontinued now! *insert sad face*).

I wanted a new Napoleon Perdis lipstick or lip gloss to create radiant orchid lips. So I thought it best go right to the source - Napoleon Perdis himself. So I sent him a tweet and crossed my fingers for a reply.

Napoleon suggested the Luminous Lip Veil in Cherchez La Femme. So the next day off I went to my nearest Napoleon Perdis store (my local concept store is located at Pacific Fair) to get this on trend shade.

Can I first of all say how much I adore the girls at the Napoleon Perdis stores! They are always so helpful and not too mention stunning!! How do they do that - always look so perfect! Anyway it wasn't long before I found the Luminous Lip Veil Napoleon suggested. Yep that's Radiant Orchid - perfect, I'll take that.

Then I spotted the DeVine Goddess Lipsticks. I am so in love with these lipsticks. I already have 3 shades - so why not get another, because you know a girl can never have too many lipsticks - right? Calypso has always been at the top of my Lipstick wish list! They don't have any purple shades in this range - just a lot and I mean a lot of reds! So after trying a few shades on the back of my hand and some helpful suggestions from the NP girl I decided to get Calypso. After all I love pink lipsticks and this is the perfect fuchsia. I'm not lying!

Of course I had to look at the eyeshadows while I was there… Let me see what new colours do they have - might as well browse the whole range. I already have a few of Napoleon's Loose Eye Dusts. OMG they are AH-MAZING! I love the shade Wild Roses it's a really nice shimmery lilac. The gorgeous NP girl showed me some shades including Violet Femme. Wow it was gorgeous!! I knew I had to have it. I mean come on purple is the best eyeshadow colour - it looks great on everyone, so I would get plenty of use out of it - right?. Yeah, that's one of those little things that we tell ourselves to justify our makeup addictions!

I asked the NP girl who was helping me what eyeshadow she had on! It looked so stunning - hmmmm why can't my eyeshadow look like that?! Anyway she was wearing the Loose Eye Dust in Starlight (I already have that shade it's like gorgeous shimmering sand colour) and the color disc in All That Shiraz. I don't have a single eyeshadow in my collection quite like it. I probably have a colour similar in one of my many eyeshadow palettes but it's not normally a colour I would ever buy on it's own. She told me All That Shiraz looks really great on and invited me to sit in the makeup chair and she could put the colour on my eyes so I could see! I love these NP girls - they know how to sell. (We always learnt in beauty school that once you can get the colour onto a woman's face she is much more likely to buy.) I was surprised how metallic it looked on my eyes. I was just expecting it to look like a dull maroon, but I was wrong. It makes a great contour colour - much warmer than a traditional brown, plus it has a metallic sheen to it. I was sold.

"Color beyond a shadow of a doubt." – NAPOLEON

This always happens to me - I go into a makeup store to buy one product and leave with a bag full of makeup! It's always the way. When the very helpful NP girl was ringing up my purchase, because I had spent over $50 she introduced me to the Napoleon Rewards program. She advised me if I joined the Glossy Posse Rewards program I could use my card every time I shopped at a Napoleon Perdis concept store and get special discounts. Wow - Yes please sign me up! Next time you're shopping at a Napoleon store - ask them about the rewards program. Everyone loves discounts and special offers, especially when it comes to makeup!

I was so happy with the new Napoleon Perdis items I bought, they will be great additions to my everyday beauty bag for Autumn and Winter. I have already been wearing my new Calypso lipstick matched with the Cherchez La Femme Lip Veil and the Dream lipliner. (Napoleon's lip pencils are the best!) I have also been rocking the new All That Shiraz eyeshadow in the crease blended with a little Starlight loose dust on my lid.

NEW HAIRCUT: Short Hair, Don't Care

Short Hair, Don't Care

I was feeling a little adventurous this week, so I decided to transform my look. I wanted a new hairstyle for Autumn/Winter. I was happy with my hair colour so I decided to be brave and make the change - and get a new hair cut.

{my hair inspiration}
I loved Julianne Hough's short blonde hairstyle in the movie Safe Haven. So I started collecting pics (on Pinterest, of course - where else!) of blonde bob hair styles that I liked to show my hairdresser. I found myself pinning ALOT of Julianne's photos. So I dug a little deeper and found this great quote from Julianne about her hair cut for the movie Safe Haven.

"When I had long hair, I always felt like I had to look pretty.
With short hair, I feel more fun and free."  - Julianne Hough

So with my Pinterest board loaded with hairstyles I loved, I arranged an appointment with my hairdresser to get "the cut". Keep in mind I hardly ever cut my hair. I suffered a lot of damage from hot styling tools about 2 years ago and having been growing my hair ever since! It's taken ages. OMG what was I thinking - all that time growing my hair and I was going to just cut it off - call me crazy but I really wanted a change. Well I am so glad I was brave and convince my hairdresser I wanted to cut my hair (and that I wasn't nuts!) - She gave me my Julianne Hough inspired hair cut….

BEFORE
AFTER

I am just thrilled with the results! I love my new bob and to my surprise Julianne was right - I do feel "free". I have had lots of great compliments from friends, followers and even my co-workers!

Do you like my new hair style?

Special thanks to my hairdresser Alex from Capri Hair for my new look!
