HUDA BEAUTY: Smokey Obsessions Palette

HUDA BEAUTY
Smokey Obsessions

Every woman loves a smokey eye, right?
Having the right eyeshadows to create the perfect smokey eye is essential. Luckily Huda Beauty have created the Smokey Obsessions palette, to help you master the smokey eye.

This palette combines 4 mattes with 5 metallic shimmers and includes an intense black, 4 shades of brown and shimmery shades of champagne, gold and silver.

Since purchasing this palette last month from a Sephora store, I have enjoyed using it everyday! What I love about this eyeshadow palette is it's versatility. I can create neutral shimmer eyes, golden smokey eye look, black and silver smokey eyes, a natural brown everyday look. It's also a great eyeshadow palette to create a soft daytime look in the morning and then build it up to a smokey look for night.

Gold smokey eye - Huda Beauty Smokey Obsessions Palette

I purchased my Smokey Obsessions palette from Sephora for $48. When it comes to getting your hands on Huda Beauty in Australia, it's much easier to purchase her eyeshadow palettes in store at your local Sephora, than order on her website and pay for shipping to Australia.

I love the size of this palette. It's mini compared to Huda's rose gold or desert dusk palette but the eyeshadows are the same size, so it's great value and perfect for your purse or beauty bag.

Application Tip:
The metallic shimmery shades in this palette are very creamy and extremely metallic. The formula of these shadows is very different to any other eyeshadow I have tried before. These shimmery shades are incredible and best applied with your finger tips. Application with an eyeshadow brush is not as affective, and not something I recommend. The colour payoff is much better when applied with your finger.

I usually apply the matte shades first with an eyeshadow brush and then dap the metallic shades on top with my fingers.

In this review I discuss the eyeshadow shades including swatches, discuss the price and packaging and give my overall thoughts of this palette.

MAKEUP HAUL: Napoleon Perdis

Napoleon Perdis Makeup Haul
{Autumn 2014}

I am loving all the amazing Radiant Orchid hues this year. I have a few purple lipsticks including Lime Crime's Airborne Unicorn and Napoleon Perdis DeVine Goddess Lipstick in Selene (don't get too excited - this shade is discontinued now! *insert sad face*).

I wanted a new Napoleon Perdis lipstick or lip gloss to create radiant orchid lips. So I thought it best go right to the source - Napoleon Perdis himself. So I sent him a tweet and crossed my fingers for a reply.

Napoleon suggested the Luminous Lip Veil in Cherchez La Femme. So the next day off I went to my nearest Napoleon Perdis store (my local concept store is located at Pacific Fair) to get this on trend shade.

Can I first of all say how much I adore the girls at the Napoleon Perdis stores! They are always so helpful and not too mention stunning!! How do they do that - always look so perfect! Anyway it wasn't long before I found the Luminous Lip Veil Napoleon suggested. Yep that's Radiant Orchid - perfect, I'll take that.

Then I spotted the DeVine Goddess Lipsticks. I am so in love with these lipsticks. I already have 3 shades - so why not get another, because you know a girl can never have too many lipsticks - right? Calypso has always been at the top of my Lipstick wish list! They don't have any purple shades in this range - just a lot and I mean a lot of reds! So after trying a few shades on the back of my hand and some helpful suggestions from the NP girl I decided to get Calypso. After all I love pink lipsticks and this is the perfect fuchsia. I'm not lying!

Of course I had to look at the eyeshadows while I was there… Let me see what new colours do they have - might as well browse the whole range. I already have a few of Napoleon's Loose Eye Dusts. OMG they are AH-MAZING! I love the shade Wild Roses it's a really nice shimmery lilac. The gorgeous NP girl showed me some shades including Violet Femme. Wow it was gorgeous!! I knew I had to have it. I mean come on purple is the best eyeshadow colour - it looks great on everyone, so I would get plenty of use out of it - right?. Yeah, that's one of those little things that we tell ourselves to justify our makeup addictions!

I asked the NP girl who was helping me what eyeshadow she had on! It looked so stunning - hmmmm why can't my eyeshadow look like that?! Anyway she was wearing the Loose Eye Dust in Starlight (I already have that shade it's like gorgeous shimmering sand colour) and the color disc in All That Shiraz. I don't have a single eyeshadow in my collection quite like it. I probably have a colour similar in one of my many eyeshadow palettes but it's not normally a colour I would ever buy on it's own. She told me All That Shiraz looks really great on and invited me to sit in the makeup chair and she could put the colour on my eyes so I could see! I love these NP girls - they know how to sell. (We always learnt in beauty school that once you can get the colour onto a woman's face she is much more likely to buy.) I was surprised how metallic it looked on my eyes. I was just expecting it to look like a dull maroon, but I was wrong. It makes a great contour colour - much warmer than a traditional brown, plus it has a metallic sheen to it. I was sold.

"Color beyond a shadow of a doubt." – NAPOLEON

This always happens to me - I go into a makeup store to buy one product and leave with a bag full of makeup! It's always the way. When the very helpful NP girl was ringing up my purchase, because I had spent over $50 she introduced me to the Napoleon Rewards program. She advised me if I joined the Glossy Posse Rewards program I could use my card every time I shopped at a Napoleon Perdis concept store and get special discounts. Wow - Yes please sign me up! Next time you're shopping at a Napoleon store - ask them about the rewards program. Everyone loves discounts and special offers, especially when it comes to makeup!

I was so happy with the new Napoleon Perdis items I bought, they will be great additions to my everyday beauty bag for Autumn and Winter. I have already been wearing my new Calypso lipstick matched with the Cherchez La Femme Lip Veil and the Dream lipliner. (Napoleon's lip pencils are the best!) I have also been rocking the new All That Shiraz eyeshadow in the crease blended with a little Starlight loose dust on my lid.

REVIEW: Sugarpill Chromalust Eyeshadow

SUGARPILL Chromalust Eyeshadow
REVIEW

My first Sugarpill Cosmetics eyeshadows arrived this week from the USA and I was so excited to try out these amazing vegan eyeshadows that I'd heard so much about. And after a week of wearing these gorgeous shimmery colours I can say that I am now in love with Sugarpill eyeshadows! They are now my new eyeshadow obsession!

I purchased 3 shades of Sugarpill Chromalust Loose Eyeshadows in Darling (a gorgeous teal), Hysteric (an iridescent lavender) and Goldilux (a sparkly metallic gold). Each eyeshadow is 5 grams in weight (not volume) and are available at Sugarpill.net for $12 each. Best of all these eyeshadows are Vegan and cruelty-free. Sugar pill never test their products on animals.

DARLING

Stunning teal loaded with iridescent turquoise star bursts

My favourite Sugarpill Chromalust colour is Darling which is a beautiful shade of shimmering Teal. This colour is perfect for green or blue eyes as it really makes them sparkle!

GOLDILUX

Brilliant, high-reflective metallic gold with breathtaking shine

I love Goldilux! It's the most amazing sparkly metallic gold eyeshadow. This colour would be perfect used wet as an intense eyeliner and is great for costume looks. Mix this colour with moisturiser for a gorgeous body shimmer. This is my favourite gold eyeshadow ever! I love the name too it's like goldilocks and deluxe put together... Goldilux is just gorgeous!

HYSTERIC

Metallic purple with turquoise sparkles and luminous flashes of green

Hysteric is one of the prettiest purple eyeshadows I've even owned. I am always on the hunt for the best purple eyeshadow, because purple is a colour that flatters every eye colour. This medium purple is really glittery and has an ultra violet sheen to it. It's just magical and very pretty. If you love purple then you will be impressed with Hysteric.

LIME CRIME: Magic Dust + Lipstick Review

LIME CRIME

I recently discovered a new magical range of makeup inspired by Fairytales called Lime Crime Makeup. This magical makeup range includes bright Lipsticks and Eyeshadows... "So Bright, it's Illegal".  I just adore these products, the colour pigments are so vibrant and long lasting and the unicorn themed packaging is so pretty and girly. The gorgeous purple pink packaging features a pretty silver sparkling Unicorn which is the brands official mascot. The lipsticks are long lasting, vibrant and the range includes colours like Purple (Airborne Unicorn) and Blue (No She Didn't).

The loose eye dust simply called Magic Dust is certainly magical and has some very pretty, vibrant colours. My favourite is their vibrant royal purple shade called Empress. Product names are inspired by Fairytales and the official website (limecrimemakeup.com) is a magic wonderland filled with lots of product info and amazing makeup looks. I highly recommend this range and look forward to what products they create in the future.
