Best Films of 2015

2015 was an incredible year for films. From the emotional 7th instalment of Fast and Furious dedicated to the late Paul Walker to the smash hit sequel Magic Mike XXL to the romantic Nicholas Sparks film The Longest Ride. It was certainly the year for movie sequels. Here's my list of the best 15 films of 2015.

My Best Breakout movie star award goes to the talented Scott Eastwood for his charming role in the 2015 Nicholas Sparks film The Longest Ride. 

My favourite Movie Director in 2015 was Max Joseph for his film We Are Your Friends. 

Best Actor award goes to Channing Tatum for his incredible role in Foxcatcher, the sequel Magic Mike XXL and the scifi flick Jupiter Ascending.

I am excited to see what 2016 brings for the Film industry. I can't wait to see the next instalment in the Divergent series; Allegiant due out in March. Plus the next Nicholas Sparks film The Choice staring Teresa Palmer and Tom Welling.

2011 Movies I still want to see: The Smurfs, Green Lantern, Monte Carlo, Super 8. 


By far my favourite movie of 2011 was Fast Five... I saw this 4 times at the cinema including 3 Gold Class sessions. I also bought the DVD the day it was release and have watched it several times on DVD. I loved it!  I also really enjoyed Transformers 3, In Time, Footloose and Friend with Benefits and Burlesque. Each of these movies I saw twice at the cinema. I love the whole cinema experience, so if I love a film, it's likely I will see it again at the cinema. There is usually something extra that I will see that I didn't pick up the first time around. I am just such a huge movie buff - as you can tell!


2011 was also a great year for kids movies (or big kids at heart like me) with Disney's Tangled, Cars 2, Rio, The Smurfs and The Lion King all doing well at the box office. 


Romantic comedies were also really great this year - Friends with Benefits starring Justin Timberlake & Mila Kunis being my favourite along with No Strings Attached, Something Borrowed, What's Your Number, and Footloose. 


When it came to action and drama I would have to say that In Time was one of my all time favourites of the year. I was fascinated by the whole concept of the movie. I really hope they make a sequel as I would love to see more of Justin & Amanda on the big screen.  I also really enjoyed I am Number Four and Thor and hope that both of these movies also have a sequel. 


For the year ahead... in 2012 I really look forward to seeing The Vow - a romantic comedy starring Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams. I also can't wait for G.I Joe: Retaliation  starring The Rock, Channing Tatum and Bruce Willis. 

HALLOWEEN: Top 5 Halloween Movies

BEST HALLOWEEN MOVIES

Happy Halloween! 
To celebrate this fun and festive holiday I'm sharing my top 5 favourite Halloween movies! Yes, it's true, all the best Halloween movies were made in the 90's! 

Walt Disney's HOCUS POCUS (1993) 

Because I'm a big kid at heart my all time favourite Halloween movie is Hocus Pocus! This is a classic family movie that I've seen so many times now, that I've lost count. Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy are the Sanderson Sisters, 3 witches who are obsessed with staying young forever. Thora Birch is adorable as Dani and spends most of the movie dressed up as a witch, cute! Her big brother Max played by Omri Katz lights the black flame candle which resurrects the Sanderson sisters on Halloween night! His love interest is Allison ("oh Allison!") played by the stunning Vinessa Shaw. Hocus Pocus has fun halloween costumes, a cute black cat (that talks), romance, magic, comedy and 3 crazy fun witches. This Halloween classic is perfect for the whole family and it's always so much fun to watch! 

Practical Magic (1998)

I love witches and I'm a huge Sandra Bullock fan, so of course Practical Magic is one of my favourite Halloween movies! Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are sisters and witches, Sally and Gillian Owens. Dianne West and Stockard Channing also star as their wicked Aunties. This magical film about the bond of 2 sisters has drama, comedy, magic and a love story, of course! Sandra and Nicole are magic on screen as the Owens sisters and I love that this film has lots of magic, witchcraft and lots of cool special effects! I love this movie so much, I mean come on witches plus romance whats not to love! 

Death Becomes Her (1992)

One of my favourite Hollywood actresses is Goldie Hawn and this is one of my favourite Goldie movies! This dark comedy is a great movie for Halloween. It has an all-star cast with a young Bruce Willis alongside screen sirens Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn. Being a Makeup Artist one of my favourite things about this movie is Goldie and Meryl's makeup and hair! It's just fabulous! The storyline is about 2 jealous friends who drink a magic potion that promises them eternal youth. So when they are both killed fighting for the love of same man played by Bruce Willis, they become "undead". It's fun watching Goldie and Meryl together on screen as rivals. Another classic 90's movie with a fun twist on the concept of eternal life. 

The Craft (1996)

So by now, you may have guessed that I love witches! Well this movie The Craft is a really cool 90's teen film about 4 teenage girls who pursue witchcraft. I don't normally like very scary movies but this film mixes sci-fi with magic and has some really cool special effects. I love Robin Tunney as Sarah Bailey and Neve Campbell is really different and off beat as Bonnie. If you love movies about high school, sci-fi flicks and horror movies then chances are you will appreciate The Craft. 

Casper (1995)

This cute children's movie mixes animation with live action and is based on the cartoon Casper the Friendly Ghost. Starring a very young and innocent Christina Ricci and one of my favourite actors Bill Pullman as her dad. Plus the gorgeous Devon Sawa appears at the end of the movie as the real Casper, which is very cute! This is such a cute movie and such a classic story... I mean come on, who doesn't just love Casper!  

So now have some movie recommendations, grab the popcorn (or the kids left over Halloween candy) cosy up and watch a movie this Halloween night.

Transformers Dark of the Moon 

Today the 3rd movie in the Transformers series Transformers Dark of the Moon was released in cinemas. Of course being a huge Transformers fan I had to see it the day it came out. I saw the standard 2D version in the luxury of Gold Class cinemas. 


This is by far the best movie of the series. It has the witty Transformer style comedy between the main characters as the first 2 movies and those funny one liners that we have all come to love. The Autobots are back, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Ironhide, Ratchet, Sideswipe and newest Autobot Mirage which is an awesome red Ferrari. There also a brand new prime called Sentinal Prime and his character is key in the storyline of this Transformers film. Also former Decepticon now Autobot, "Wheelie" from Transformers 2 returns along with his cute little Autobot friend "Brains" seem to be Sam's "alien pets" along with Mikela's dog Bones. So of course the Decepticons that we love to hate are back for the 3rd movie, Megatron (yes he is still alive!), Shockwave, Starscream and Soundwave.  


Returning characters to Transformers 3 are Shia LeBeouf (Sam), Josh Duhamel (Lennox), Tyrese Gibson (Epps), Kevin Dunn and Julie White (Ron and Judy), John Turturro (Agent Simmons). Brand new cast members include Sam's new love interest and Megan Fox's replacement Carly played by Rosie Huntington. She is joined by Patrick Dempsey, John Malkovich, Frances McDormand and Alan Tudyk (who plays Agent Simmons assistant - he is really funny). I love Rosie Huntington as Carly, she is a sexy Victorias Secret model and makes her debut in this movie. She is beautiful, sexy, glamorous and really does a great job playing Sam's new love interest. Boys will appreciate may of her tight sexy outfits and her on screen chemistry with Shia LeBeouf is sexy and fresh. Shia's performance is excellent and his character has matured alot since the first movie. 


Sometimes the story line is a little hard to follow but it all comes together at the end of the movie during the intense action scenes. I really loved the action between the Autobots and Decepticons, the special effects are really amazing, the robots really look real. Michael Bay did an amazing job directing this 3rd instalment. 

Due to the intense action scenes and adult themes I would not recommend this film for kids. 


I really enjoyed Transformers Dark of the Moon, it's the best film in this series, I give it 5 out of 5 stars. Even though my favourite Megan Fox didn't return and Tyrese Gibson doesn't appear in the movie until the 2nd half of the film, the movie exceeded my expectations. I can't wait to see it again in 3D!
