To achieve Marilyn Monroe red lips I use 3 products; a lipstick, lipliner and lip gloss. Marilyn is my makeup muse and I love to re-create her signature seductive red lip. 

LIPLINER

Perfect red lipstick needs a perfect base. I always line and fill in my lips prior to lipstick application with a red lip liner. 

The lip liner I love is NYX Slim Lip Pencil in Plush Red. This is a cool red so it's perfect for a Marilyn Monroe inspired red lip.

The essential product for this Marilyn Monroe inspired lipstick love is the Marilyn Red Lipstick from Ben Nye Makeup company. 

Ben Nye was a Makeup Artist in the Hollywood film industry. He worked as the 20th Century Fox Makeup Director and worked on over 500 films from 1936 - 1982. Ben Nye worked in the makeup department on 13 of Marilyn Monroe's films including The Seven Year Itch, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, How to Marry a Millionaire, Niagara, Don't Bother to Knock, Monkey Business, All About Eve, Love Nest, We're Not Married, River of No Return, There's No Business Like Show Business, Bus Stop, and Let's Make Love. 

In 1967 Ben Nye retired and created the Ben Nye Makeup company - which specialises in professional makeup for the film industry.

LIP GLOSS 

To create a luscious plump looking lip after lipstick application I like to apply one coat of Perfectly Chic Lip Gloss in Cherish to my top and bottom lip. 

This lipgloss is highly pigmented - it's a gorgeous cherry red colour with a shimmery finish so it's perfect over and red lipstick!
