ALBUM REVIEW: Christina Aguilera Lotus

CHRISTINA AGUILERA Lotus
album review

The most anticipated album of the year is finally here! Christina Aguilera is back! After the unfortunately failure of her previous album Bionic, due to low album sales which resulted in a cancelled tour. Christina proves that she is and will always be a fighter, rising up to deliver one of the best albums of her career, Lotus.

Rise up Lotus rise this is the beginning....

To the sky I rise spread my wings and fly.
I leave the past behind say goodbye to scared child inside.
I sing for freedom and for love.
I look at my relfection embrace the woman I have become.
The unbreakable Lotus in me, I now set free.

Mixing strong military style beats with classic Christina style empowerment ballads, this album gives the fans what we have been waiting for - the real Xtina! The lead single "Your Body" showcases Christina's flirtatious nature and sexy curves.

My favourite tracks on the album include Lotus, Army of Me, Make the World Move, Sing for Me, Blank Page and Best of Me. There are so many truly amazing songs on this album proving Christina still has that legendary vocal ability that made her famous. Unlike Bionic there is only two tracks on the album that disappoint - Circles and Shut UpFans are expecting RCA to release the right singles from Lotus to help increase album sales. This will ensure that Christina can tour worldwide.

ALBUM REVIEW: Taylor Swift Red

RED TAYLOR SWIFT
album review

Taylor Swift's recently released her 4th studio album simply titled "Red". I purchased the deluxe edition (which was only $2 extra) that includes a bonus disc with 6 extra tracks including 3 new songs! I am so glad I purchased the deluxe double CD because my favourite song from RED is The Moment I Knew which is only available on the bonus CD!

My other favourites include the playful upbeat I Knew You Were Trouble, Everything Has Changed (a duet with Ed Sheeran) and the unique ballad Sad Beautiful Tragic. My least favourite songs are the 1st single We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together and Stay Stay Stay (the worst Taylor Swift song ever!) and The Last Time her collaboration with Snow Patrol.

ALBUM REVIEW: Carrie Underwood Blown Away

Blown Away CARRIE UNDERWOOD
album review

Carrie Underwood's new highly anticipated album Blown Away was released earlier this month. Since purchasing this album it's been the only CD I have listened to for the last 2 weeks. I was blown away but how awesome this album was, even after the first listen I knew it was going to be one of my favourites albums of 2012.

My favourite songs:

  • Two Black Cadillacs
  •  Good Girl
  • Thank God for Hometowns
  • Good in Goodbye

The album is very true to Carrie's classic modern pop sound with a dash of country. However this album has a much more mature sound with a few darker songs than her previous albums!

I highly recommend this album and give it 4.5 stars - It could possibly be Carrie's best album to date. It will be interesting to see which songs she selects for the next singles. I am sure Blown Away will be the next single and I do hope that Two Black Cadillacs is also a single because the music video would be amazing.

ALBUM REVIEW: Colbie Caillat All of You

COLBIE CAILLAT All of You
album review

I recently purchased Colbie Caillat's third studio album All of You. I originally bought the album just for the song What If  which was featured in one of my favourite movies from 2010 Letters to Juliet. But I can honestly say I have fallen in love with the Colbie Caillat's amazing voice and new songs. This album is perfect for summer. I would describe her music style as Pop mixed with Reggae, with a dash of Country. All songs on this album were written by Colbie and focus of love and life. My favourite tracks are What If and Dream Life, Life

Colbie Caillat's new album ALL OF YOU is available now on iTunes.

It's official... I have Bieber Fever

I recently saw The Karate Kid movie starring with Jaden Smith and fell in love with the Theme Song for the movie Never Say Never. This inspirational song by Justin Bieber featuring Jayden Smith, is about never giving up and giving everything you have.

After seeing Justin Bieber play in the Celebrity All-Star NBA Game recently and his amazing performance with Usher and Jaden at The Grammy Awards, I decided to buy his album.

On Friday I found his 2010 My Worlds (Australia Edition) album at Target. After a few rounds in my stereo, I can confidently say that this is truly an amazing collection of tracks. Justin has a sweet voice and majority of these tracks I could sing along to after only 1 or 2 times listening to them. The CD contains his famous singles Baby, You Smile, and One Time. These songs are great however my favourite songs are the ballads Down To Earth, That Should be Me, Where Are You Now and Common Denominator

Never Say Never is not included on the My Worlds CD however it's available on a new album Never Say Never (The Remixes) and on iTunes (Australia) for $AUD2.19.

Never Say Never Lyrics
See I never thought that I could walk through fire.
I never thought that I could take the burn.
I never had the strength to take it higher,
Until I reached the point of no return.
And there's just no turning back,
When your hearts under attack,
Gonna give everything I have,
It's my destiny.
Chorus I will never say never! (I will fight)
I will fight till forever! (make it right)
Whenever you knock me down,
I will not stay on the ground.
Pick it up,
Pick it up,
Pick it up,
Pick it up up up,
And never say never.
I never thought I could feel this power.
I never thought that I could feel this free.
I'm strong enough to climb the highest tower.
And I'm fast enough to run across the sea.
And there's just no turning back,
When your hearts under attack,
Gonna give everything I have,
Cause this is my destiny.
(repeat Chorus)
Here we go!
Guess who?
JSmith and Jb!
I gotcha lil bro.
I can handle him.
Hold up, aight?
I can handle him.
Now he's bigger than me,
Taller than me.
And he's older than me,
And stronger than me.
And his arms a little bit longer than me.
But he ain't on a JB song with me!
I be trying a chill
They be trying to side with the thrill.
No pun intended, was raised by the power of Will.
Like Luke with the force, when push comes to shove.
Like Cobe with the 4th, ice water with blood.
I gotta be the best, and yes
We're the flyest.
Like David and Goliath,
I conquered the giant.
So now I got the world in my hand,
I was born from two stars
So the moon's where I land.
(repeat Chorus x 2)

ALBUM REVIEW: Katy Perry Teenage Dream

KATY PERRY Teenage Dream
album review

Here is my honest review of Katy Perry's new album Teenage Dream

This is my favourite album of 2010. The album is fun, playful, dramatic and honest all at once. The cotton candy scented packaging and album artwork gives this classic pop album an 80's flavour. Katy mixes classic pop songs with dance and ballads and adds her own flare to each track.

My favourite songs:

  1. Teenage Dream
  2. Hummingbird Heartbeat
  3. Circle the Drain
  4. E.T.

Track Listing:

1. Teenage Dream

ALBUM REVIEW: Christina Aguilera Bionic

CHRISTINA AGUILERA Bionic
album review

I recently purchased Christina Aguilera's new album "Bionic". My expectations of this album were low from what I had seen and heard via the internet, but I must admit I am quite impressed with the album! Overall it's a very different sound and vibe than Christina's previous albums like "Stripped" and "Back to Basics". Of course there is the classy ballads like "Lift Me Up" and "You Lost Me" for the fans who love Christina's powerful voice. But the tracks that are truly my favourites are the uptempo edgy dance tracks like "Not Myself Tonight", "WooHoo", "Prima Donna", "Desnudate" and "Vanity". On these tracks Christina becomes her dirrty, sexy Xtina persona she introduced to us back in her Stripped days.

There are a few tracks on this album that I don't like at all; "Elastic Love", "Bobblehead", "Birds of Prey" all have lyrics and music that is very much to put it nicely annoying to listen to. Highlights of this album are the intros "Love and Glamour", "Morning Dessert" and "My Heart' which features Christina's young son Max singing and saying "Mama".

Overall this album is well worth purchasing whether you buy the cd to get the glossy sexy lyric booklet or the iTunes version which features a bonus track. Stripped is still my favourite Christina album, but Bionic is a new sound for Christina and one of the best albums I have bought in a very long time. I give Bionic 4 out of 5 stars.
